Tech Company Tycoon is a business simulation where you manage a tech company across five phases: games, devices, consoles, cars and robotics. You make decisions about products, staff, marketing and research while trying to stay profitable.
The game is currently in early development. The core systems are being built, but many features are still planned rather than implemented. What is described here is the target design what actually ships may differ depending on development constraints and scope decisions.
Phase 1: Video Game Startup
Start by making games. Pick a genre and platform, set a budget and release. Early sales fund your next moves.
- Focus on 1 genre to build a fanbase
- Invest early in marketing upgrades
Phase 2: Device Development
Move into hardware. Design phones and tablets with trade-offs between specs and price. Reviews affect sales.
- Watch market trends closely
- R&D upgrades unlock better components
Phase 3: Console Production
Build a console and line up exclusive games. This phase needs serious capital one bad launch can sink you.
- Launch with a strong exclusive lineup
- Innovate rather than copy competitors
Phase 4: Cars Division
Expand into electric vehicles. R&D costs are high and factory setup is expensive. The payoff is there if you survive the early losses.
- Speed, battery & safety affect reviews
- Car factories require heavy investment
Phase 5: Robotics & AI
The final phase: robotics and AI. By this point you either have the cash to invest or you do not. This is where the long-term planning pays off or does not.
- Robots boost your company's productivity
- Ethical decisions may affect public opinion
General Tips
- Cash flow matters more than total revenue — a big company can still go broke
- Departments need investment, but overstaffing early on drains your budget
- AI rivals react to the market, but they also make mistakes you can exploit
- Entering a new phase too early or too late both have consequences
Five Industry Phases
Five phases to work through, each with different mechanics and financial demands. Not all phases will appeal to every player.
Deep Customization
Products have configurable specs that affect cost, quality and price. Finding the right balance is the core challenge.
Dynamic Economy
Markets shift based on what you and your rivals release. A good product at the wrong time still fails.
AI Competitors
AI competitors release their own products and respond to market trends. They are not perfect, but they will beat you if you ignore them.
Release date is uncertain. The game is in early development and priorities may shift. Do not plan around this date.
